PRINCE stands for PRojects IN Controlled Environments, 2 stands for the version of PRINCE used.

Typically we tend to use PRINCE2, as it is the latest version but PRINCE (version 1) is still in use, where appropriate. Corporate Chameleon use version 2 and it is this version that will be referred to from here on.

PRINCE2 is a structured method for effective project management. It is a de facto standard used extensively by the UK Government and is widely recognised and used in the private sector, both in the UK and internationally. As a public domain methodology, it offers non-proprietory best-practice guidance on project management.
